Cardiff New Music Collective was formed in 2003, and is already a prominent voice in contemporary music in Wales. With numerous commissions and dedications to its name, as well as the work of its associate composers - Paul Jones, Dan Phelps and Deri Roberts - CNMC has inspired a significant body of music. The Collective has been involved in a multitude of artistic projects, including visual exhibitions, contemporary dance, and film, and composers that have written for the group include Keith Tippett and Andrew Wilson-Dickson

The group aims to bridge boundaries between composer and performer, involving one another in every step of the creative process. So composers are able to hear their ideas made real before committing them to paper, and players are able to give advice on performance. The Collective always aims to include a variety of compositional styles in concerts - pieces that are more tonal and ‘traditional’, as well as music that incorporates elements such as improvisation, electronics and film.

Ensemble 'In Transit' performs in all of CNMC’s concerts. The unusual combination of instruments in this group adds an extra dimension to performances, introducing new blends of sound. Visit their website for more infomation.
